PHR-504: Biopharmaceutics & Pharmacokinetics-I
Instructor: Dr. Md. Harun-Or-Rashid
Course Summary: This course is assigned to learn about the absorption, distribution, and elimination of drugs in the body. By studying this course we will learn about the introduction to Biopharmaceutics & Pharmacokinetics; various factors affecting drug absorption, distribution, and bioavailability. In this course, we will also learn about drug elimination by various eliminating organs such as kidney, liver, lung, gall bladder, etc. Overall ADME of drugs can be known in the study of this course.
Rationale: In order to design a suitable dosage form, pharmacists should consider the pharmacokinetic parameter, dissolution pattern, absorption profile, and bioavailability of the administered drug, and then design a dosage form considering various factors related to drug ADME.
Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs): To Explore knowledge of various factors affecting the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of drugs, and Design proper dosage form for optimum drug absorption.
