PHR-604  : Biopharmaceutics & Pharmacokinetics-II

This course is assigned to learn about the compartment model for absorption, distribution, and elimination of drugs in the body. By studying this course we will learn about the absorption profile of the drug in the various compartments in the body. The various topics such as pharmacokinetics of oral drug absorption in one compartment as well as multicompetent model, intravenous drug administration and its ADME, Pharmacokinetics of drug absorption model, Multiple dosage regimen in various diseases and dosage adjustment in various kidney and liver disease. There is also a short description of the extracorporeal removal of drugs in renal disease.
Rationale: After the administration of drugs, pharmacists should realize the pharmacokinetics of drugs in various compartments and give understanding about the drug accumulation and elimination profile which is helpful in dosage adjustment of drugs in various disease states.
Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs): To Generalize knowledge about the drug absorption model, and to evaluate the dosage regimen in different pathological conditions.
