Dear students
Today 16 January 2k23 we are going to begin our Spring semester 2023 as well as beginning of the classes. This is Engr. Rabindra Ranjan Saha, PEng, Associate professor and Head of the department of Civil Engineering, World University of Bangladesh. The course that I will teach you is Irrigation and Flood Control Sessional. Course code is CE 1006. It carries 1.0 credit.
This course will be taught you following Outcome Based Education (OBE). This means at the beginning of the course you will be able to know the outcome of the course. Accordingly you will know the course profile, unit learning outcome and course content etc.
For your ready reference course materials and course outline, vision-mission of the World University of Bangladesh as well as Department of Civil Engineering, evaluation strategy etc. are uploaded. You will find them in lectures'. Course content:
1. Soil water relationship and soil properties.
2. Determination of soil bulk density by field method.
3 . Measurement of soil suction with the Tensiometer.
4. Irrigation requirements and scheduling by book keeping method.
5. Aquifer characteristics and estimation of yield from irrigation wells.
6. Analysis of hydrological data.
7. Design of branch canal in an irrigation and drainage canal network project.
8. Irrigation pumps in series and parallel.
9. Design of irrigation structures.
