Welcome,This is Engr. Rabindra Ranjan Saha, PEng Associate Professor and Head, Department of Civil Engineering, World University of Bangladesh is going to start your new Summer semester 2023 with the course Professional Practices and communication. You will be taught this course following OBE system that is Outcome Based Education. In this way you will be able to see the course outcome before completing the course for which you will be able to understand the necessity of this course in civil Engineering program. This course will educate you to know the process of conducting procurement both government as well as private. You will learn Procurement methods, process and evaluation, project cycle with conduction of project. Technical report writing is another important topic for your practical life. You will also learn technical communication.   The course will discuss real estate business as well as communication. Labour well fare, industrial labour relation etc. 

Syllabus out line of Professional Practices and Communication

The project cycle; project proposal; contractual provisions; techniques of specification writing; report writing,evaluation of bids; project evaluation.

Interpretation of literature, documents etc; communicating; preparation of report; industrial and labour relations; professional ethics in Civil Engineering.

There is no particular text book for this course. Central Procurement of Technical Unit, Ministry of Planning Commission, Government Bangladesh is the major source of this course.
