The Post-modern Period saw the emergence of the novel, while its poetry combined rhetorical sophistication and imaginative exploration. This course provides an opportunity for the students to conceive the conjunction of optimism and anxiety reflected in the period’s literature where sentimental love confronts satiric comedy and in which the polite and beautiful jostles with the vulgar and shocking.
