This course will cover the major classic works of three major English writers—Daniel Defoe, Jonathan Swift and Alexander Pope of this period. This is called the Neo-classical period. The students will come to be acquainted with the works of Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe(1719) , Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels(1726) and Alexander Pope's The Rape of the Lock(1712) .The course will cover all areas including religion, science, culture, licensing order of printing press and politics of the 18th century England.
