The course aims to provide the student with an introduction to the determination of interest rate, financial markets and monetary policy in the economy, thus providing a solid foundation for further study or employment in the financial services industry. Financial markets, or markets for financial assets, play an important role in the efficient functioning of a market economy. This course will provide students with an introduction to global financial markets and an evaluation of the institutions, instruments and participants involved in the industry. The mainstream markets to be evaluated include the equity, money, bond, derivatives and exchange rate markets.
