This course has been designed to analyze the presence of Hindu personal law for Hindu community and to
discuss in detail the personal law of Hindus. This course covers a critical study of the Hindu personal law
governing family relations such as marriage, maintenance, guardianship and custody, adoption, stridhan,
women’s property etc. This course is also devoted to the study of property relations in family. The legal
incidence of joint family, the laws of succession (testamentary and intestate), gift, will, debt, partition, religious
and charitable endowment and impartible estate according to the Hindu personal law are discussed. A study on
special emphasis on need for reformation of Hindu personal law has also been included in this course.
