Introduction
In today's world, machine learning (ML) is transforming various fields, including cybersecurity. This course will introduce students to the basic concepts of machine learning, providing them with the knowledge to understand how ML works. The course will then focus on the intersection of ML and cybersecurity, exploring how machine learning can both pose risks as a tool used by attackers and serve as a solution for detecting and preventing threats. The course is designed for undergraduate students with limited backgrounds in computer science and mathematics, making it accessible and practical with real-world applications.
The course is divided in 6 modules:
1. Introduction to Machine Learning (ML Basics)
2. Introduction to Cybersecurity
3. Machine Learning as a Threat in Cybersecurity
4. Machine Learning as a Solution for Cybersecurity
5. Case Studies and Emerging Trends
6. Course Wrap-Up
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
· Understand fundamental machine learning concepts.
· Explore the challenges of cybersecurity in the context of modern digital threats.
· Analyze the potential threats posed by malicious use of machine learning.
· Examine how machine learning can be used to improve cybersecurity and mitigate risks.
