Comparative Law of Succession

There are various people from various religion. Every person from every religion has distinct personal Laws. Generally, the property of a deceased persons devolves upon his heirs according to his own personal laws. This course examines comparative succession law with an emphasis on Muslim Law, Hindu Law, and Christian Law. This is a core law course designed to introduce students to the historical development and conceptual breadth of succession law in comparison. This course provides the students with the knowledge of the different systems of succession. In this course, the students will in particular learn the methods of allotment of shares among the heirs of the deceased and make comparison among Muslim Law, Hindu Law and Christian Law of succession.
