Course info

This is a fundamental course which enables students to understand about the very basic of mechanical engineering. Some inseparable concepts of mechanical engineering, i.e , engine, boiler, refrigeration, compressor, turbines will be discussed in the lab course. Students will understand and learn about very basic mechanical components mostly appear in various electrical networks as well.

Steam generation units with accessories and mountings, steam generators and turbines, internal combustion engines and their cycles, Sl engines, Cl engines and gas turbines with their accessories. Refrigeration and air conditioning systems with their accessories. Types of fluid machinery. Study of impulse and reaction turbines. Pelton wheel and Kaplan turbine. Study of cetrifugal and axial flow machines, pumps, fans. blowers and compressors. Study of reciprocating pumps.
